a care package from Germany!

March 28, 2014

My new housemate, Sabrina, was lucky enough to receive a care package from her dad when he came to visit the states from Germany a few days ago. She was feeling a bit homesick, so she was happy to get a bunch of treats from home. These included Haribo gummies (I had no idea they were actually German!) quite a few jars of Nutella, an entire shoebox full of Nutella-to-go, and other sweets, snacks, and bars of chocolate.

Her dad also brought some things for me. It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of dark chocolate, and I was excited to see there was a bit in the loot especially for me. Danke Herr Ulbrich!

I can't say there's much of a difference between "American" Nutella and German Nutella, as they're the same company, but the American version comes in a plastic bottle as opposed to a glass one, and according to Sabrina, it's about twice as expensive here in the US!

What sweets would you miss if you moved away from home?
What would you put in a care package for a friend?

  1. I love those miniature packages of Nutella. The first time I visited Germany I returned to Canada with dozens of them in my suitcase. :)

  2. wow! Look at all that nutella! :)

  3. Woaaaaah chocolate and lots of it! And I see you got some treats as well, that's nice :) I wouldn't miss anything if I moved from here lol. But you know I miss Pop Tarts, Smores and all the other Junk Food from America.

  4. Hi! I love Nutella, too. In Spain, we also have Nocilla, which is very similar to Nutella. I'd miss a type of chocolate by Amatller from Barcelona, it's just delicious, dark chocolate with mar de cava. It's one of my favourite presents to give to foreign friends, as the boxes are printed with Alphonse Mucha's designs, so, a beautiful box and delicious chocolate! Best regards from Barcelona,

  5. Oh my gosh I love nutella so much. My mouth is watering right now.. What a wonderfully amazing care package!

  6. If I moved to America then I'd definitely miss my chocolate... I don't know about anywhere else!
