work in progress - macaron watercolor

Thankfully I've gotten back in the saddle when it comes to art and crafting! I'm so glad to have my creative spark back, and to be able to pick up the brush again. I've had a lot of art projects going on, but my favorite is definitely my watercolor macarons. I started this on a whim one day while watching Netflix, and within a few hours it blossomed into an exciting creative pursuit for me!

After working on the line art, I decided on my colors and started filling in with the paints. I used variations of light and dark to make the contours of the cookie, and layered the paint to make it more flakey and realistic looking!

At this point, I really wanted some macarons! Maybe I'll have to go get some in the near future :P

aaaand the finished product! There were a few spots I thought needed work, but I really like how it turned out. What dessert should I paint next?

Do you have any experience with watercolors?
What have you or what would you paint?

  1. I love that! It would be so adorable hanging in a kitchen! Off topic, but when I was in school those were my absolute favorite mechanical pencils, haha :)
