A Walk Around Montpelier

Today, I took my own little tour of Montpelier, a historic estate near Charlottesville, Virginia, smack dab in the middle of the Blue Ridge mountains. Montpelier is most known as the home of James Madison, the 4th President of The United States, and father of the Constitution. Though I didn't sign up for an official guided tour, I remembered a lot from the times I visited in my school years. I took a walk around the area and spent a little extra time absorbing the historic beauty the estate had to offer, as well as attending the annual wine festival going on on the grounds. It was a beautiful day, and there were blue skies and green grass for miles. My favorite part of the grounds was Dolley Madison's garden, a beautiful gated area with lush green shrubbery and classical sculptures. The wine wasn't too bad either ;)

Have you ever visited Montpelier?
What is your favorite historic place?
