pink and blue painted cooler
This year for beach week, I painted a cooler for my friend Emily's birthday. I included a turtle design, a monogram with her initials, a quote from The Great Gatsby, and a bunch of beachy patterns. She loved it, and painting it was super fun, so I decided to make myself one. I decided to go with a pink and blue color scheme, and painted things that reminded me of summer in the south. My first order of business was the top, where I painted a monogram framed with pink carnations. On the front, I painted the state of Virginia, surrounded with symbols like a cardinal and dogwood, which are associated with my home state. This was inspired by Lilly Pulitzer's state collection. Another side features a mason jar with my birth year. I thought this was pretty cheeky and cute :)

Overall, painting the cooler was a blast. I might do a few more in the future for gifts!

Have you ever painted a cooler?
What is your favorite summertime activity?
