Out of things to watch? This list may help you find a new favorite. If you've already watched my picks, feel free to suggest some of your own!
If you like Drama, Action & General Badassery, you'll love:
Breaking Bad - Breaking Bad hit TV screens in 2008, it quickly became an instant classic. It's smart, suspenseful, and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I'll admit that it took me far too long to start watching Breaking Bad, but that was only because I was afraid of how great it was. It has its fair share of violence and drug use, but still manages to be funny and even heartwarming at times. If you're holding back on watching Breaking Bad like I did, you should give it a go. You'll be glad you did, bitch!
Orange is The New Black - OITNB is another show that quicky became a cult classic, and for good reason. I watched the entire first season within a week, and then had to wait an entire year for the next one to come out. It was a slow and heartbreaking journey. The show, however, captivated me in a multitude of different ways. In the series you'll meet a handful of different ladies with amazing and often heartbreaking stories. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you might just rage about the corruption of the Litchfield prison system. It's a great show. Check it out and you'll see what I mean.
Other things you may like: Weeds, United States of Tara, Bates Motel, The Walking Dead, Sons of Anarchy, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Dexter, Revenge, and Malcolm in The Middle if you want more Bryan Cranston action.
If you like Quirky Comedies or Sitcoms, you'll love:
Parks and Recreation - Though it does start off a bit slow, Parks and Rec became one of my all time favorite shows. It's funny, uplifting, and hopelessly goofy. You'll love Leslie to death, know exactly how April feels, want to give Jerry a big hug, and learn to hate the library just as much as the parks department does. Prepare to "Treat Yo Self" and watch a few episodes, just because I said so.
Other things you may like: How I Met Your Mother, New Girl, Don't Trust the Bitch in Apartment 23, The Office, 30 Rock, Scrubs, Parenthood, That 70's Show, Raising Hope, Freaks and Geeks, and Everybody Loves Raymond.
If you like "Stupid Sh*t," you'll love:
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - I would still consider It's Always Sunny a comedy/sitcom, but it's in one of the more polarizing categories. You'll either love it or hate it. The show can be really dry and raunchy, so it's not everyone's cup of tea. My mom calls these kind of shows "stupid sh*t" because they're not her thing at all. Personally, IASIP is one of my favorites. It's so ridiculous that I can't get enough. I wish I could cultivate mass with Mac, spend time with Charlie and the rats, or create my own Dennis system.
Bob's Burgers - When I first heard about this show, I thought I wouldn't like it because it was one of those weird cartoons like South Park. Even though I'm not a fan of those cartoon shows, I gave it a try and loved it. It's so awkward and relatable.
Other things you may like:
Portlandia, Louie, Arrested Development, The IT Crowd, Wilfred
, My Name is Earl, and shows that sadly aren't on Netflix like Tosh.0, Workaholics, and Broad City.
If you like Sexy or Steamy Shows, you'll love:
The Tudors - This show, oh my gosh. I'm kind of obsessed with Tudor England, so there was no question that I would gobble up this series. Not only is it a period piece (but really inaccurate historically, tbh) it's super steamy. HBO level steamy. If you don't mind seeing the (not so) occasional pair of boobs or manbutt, and accept that King Henry VIII is a total dreamboat, you'll love this show. Long live Queen Anne!
Other things you may like: Grey's Anatomy, Mad Men, Desperate Housewives, Reign, Californication, Grand Hotel, Friends with Benefits, and Mixology.
If you like Girly or Guilty Pleasure shows, you'll love:
Gilmore Girls - I grew up watching Gilmore Girls and since it came out on Netflix, I've been watching it nonstop. It's one of those shows I've loved my entire life, and will continue to love for a long time. I guess you could call it a "Girl Power" show or even one of my guilty pleasures. I'm not ashamed!
Other things you may like: Gossip Girl, Once Upon A Time, The Carrie Diaries, Pretty Little Liars, 90210, Drop Dead Diva, Ugly Betty, One Tree Hill, The Secret Life of The American Teenager, and Greek.
That's it for TV for now, what did you think? Maybe I'll do a list of my movie picks here shortly. Now what are you waiting for, get on that couch and watch some Netflix!
