a year in review - 2014

December 30, 2014

2014 is coming to an end, and boy was it a year to remember! Overall, it was a year of growth, new beginnings, determination, creativity and a little (actually a lot) of elbow grease. I met great people, learned a lot about myself, and took some decent photos. Here they are, and I hope your year was great as well!

In January my roommates and I celebrated the New Year by setting things on fire. I bought an Instax camera and planned to document things tangibly (successfully, I started a scrapbook!), and won a Marc Jacobs fragrance from an instagram contest. I also met Sabrina, who quickly became one of my greatest friends.

In February I sent out my valentines and did a blog post series with my gal pal Caelan, ate lots of Korean food, and focused on school. I made my plan to graduate with my associates degree by the end of the year. Spoiler alert: I did it!

In March I took some friends to a local haunt, Bunnyman Bridge, snuggled with my cat Licorice a ton, and had almost 2 feet of snow on my "Spring Break."

In April the cherry blossoms were blooming, I took up yoga, and did a little art.

In May I visited Bao Bao, the new baby panda at the Zoo, went hiking at Great Falls with my dear friend Le'Andra, and treated myself to a pretty Alex and Ani bracelet celebrating New Beginnings.

In June, Sabrina and I stayed the night in Baltimore, visited Edgar Allan Poe's gravesite and memorial, and ate some really awesome Mexican food. I went to the beach with my friends Emily, Carly, Rachael, and Bridget, and we did the scariest thing I've ever done. The beach was gorgeous as well. I can't wait to go back.

In July I made Ryan Gosling cupcakes, went mining for rubies with my mom on my birthday, and saw Cirque du Soleil's showing of Amaluna at National  Harbor.

In August I visted the Catsgills and spent a week kayaking in Upstate New York. Later that month I lost my best friend, my dog Pepper. I miss her so much and always will, but I know she's in a better place. I found peace in a huge field of sunflowers near Harrisonburg VA.

In September I marveled at the Library of Congress, my favorite place in the world. My parents got a puppy and named her Page, she is a hoot. I re-arranged my room and drank some cider to welcome Fall, my favorite season!

In October I spent some time in the mountains at the Graves Mountain Apple Festival. I also got my acceptance letter to George Mason University, where I will finish out my Bachelor's degree and hopefully my Masters (I start in January, woo!) and we had a super fun Halloween party, my chocolate bark was a hit.

In November I was reunited with my love, the Peppermint Mocha, I took a pretty decent selfie, and the first snowfall of the year came! I also busted my ass at school and stressed myself out way too much, but I don't have photos of that, thank goodness.

In December, the roomies and I decorated the Xmas tree, I made 3 new plant friends, and Sabrina and I visited the Meadowlark Walk of Lights and ICE! at National Harbor.

All in all 2014 was a great year. I got a lot done, I watched plenty of Netflix, I finished my Associate's degree, traveled a bit, and now I'm ready to welcome in the next chapter! Stay tuned for my resolutions and other New Year's fun!

Did you write a year in review post? Link it to me, I'd love to see it!
