DIY // Copycat LUSH "The Kiss" Lip Scrub

Valentine's day is right around the corner, and super soft lips are super important! With these dry winter days we're having, my lips have been so sad. That's when I came across LUSH's "The Kiss" lip scrub, but I just couldn't justify spending $10 on something I knew I could create at home myself.

So I played around a bit with ingredients and finally I succeeded! Check out my recipe below!

To make the Copycat LUSH Valentines Collection "The Kiss" Lip Scrub, you will need:
  • 3 tbsp sugar in the raw
  • 3 tbsp white granulated sugar
  • 1tsp olive, coconut, or avocado oil
  • a few drops of lemon juice
  • a few drops of vanilla extract
  • a few drops of red (or pink) food coloring
  • cake decorating sprinkles
  • a pinch of sea salt (optional)
The LUSH version contains a bit of sea salt for extra exfoliation, but I personally chose not to add it as the salt made the scrub taste kind of funny. My recipe smells exactly like cake, which is awesome, and the two types of sugar leave your lips feeling smooth and tingly. The sprinkles add such a cute touch as well! Perfect for Valentines day. The best part is, you can totally lick this stuff off your lips once you're done using it, as all the ingredients are edible!

I recommend keeping your homemade lip scrub stored in the fridge, just to keep it fresh. There is some wiggle room in this recipe as you can downsize or upsize the ingredients to your liking, as long as your scrub maintains "dry" to the touch. I ended up adding a little extra white sugar in the end to see if I could make it look a little bit more "pastel" pink. This recipe made almost 1/3 of a cup of scrub by the time I got it to the consistency I wanted. Now I have plenty to share with my friends :)

Let me know if you end up making this, I'd love to see photos! Tweet them to me! @jssbckly
