Beach Week 2015 // The Outer Banks

June 21, 2015

This past week I got to spend some time at the beach with my friends. We started out on Saturday and made the 5 hour drive down to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Once we finally got there, we unpacked and sat down to watch Orange is the New Black (my favorite show, like ever) and played a few rounds of Tipsy Jenga and a really cool game called Superfight.

We spent a day at the beach, splashed around in the ocean, and got some dinner at a restaurant called Goombays. I got to try some alligator "nuggets" which is something I wouldn't normally think about eating, but they were pretty good!

One morning we headed to the Bodie Island Lighthouse to watch the sunrise. We decided not to go to bed the night before, so we were tired and quite a bit silly by the time it was time to watch the sun come up.

We also got to meet this sweet little deer, who was out on the beach to say good morning to us. Easily my favorite photo from the trip.

We also split a dozen donuts from Duck Donuts, a company that makes the donuts fresh when you order them. They're SO good! I just got word that there's a Duck Donuts opening up near my house, so I'm about to be in a world of trouble! My favorite donuts are chocolate with sprinkles, what about you?

Of course we had quite a bit of time to relax on the beach. (Look at how blue that water is!!)

And we spent the rest of the week hanging out at the dunes, stopping at a few little shops, making tie dye shirts, bowling, cooking together, and finishing season 3 of OITNB (anybody else obsessed with that show?!)

Are you going on any roadtrips this summer?

  2. I love the outer banks! Duck donuts is the best ever. If they ever opened one near me, I am in biiiig trouble. My other favorite place on the outer banks is slice pizzeria, yum! I never thought to watch the sunrise at the lighthouse, that sounds lovely. Glad you had a nice trip!

  3. This looks like such a fun week. American donuts look like they totally kick UK donuts' butts.

  5. I'm a big fan of filled donuts with pudding, but you really can't go wrong with sprinkles.
