8 Blog and Personal Goals for 2016

I learned long ago that resolutions aren't exactly my strong suit. Making wide sweeping plans for the year ahead of me like "travel more" and "start exercising" never work for me. I need real, solid, quantifiable goals in order to accomplish something.

Rather than choosing vague things I want to accomplish and then beating myself up when I didn't get around to them, I figured I'd choose things that I know are possible to implement in my life. Plus, writing them down will hold me accountable. Hopefully I'm not jinxing myself, ha! That being said, here are the things I want to get done in 2016:

1. Graduate College!
This one may seem like a given, but it's definitely my #1 goal for this year. The best part is, it's one I'm very likely to accomplish. Let the countdown begin!

2. Launch an Online Business.
It's been a dream of mine for a long time to open my own shop. I've got ideas practically falling out of my ears, and I think it could be a really fantastic adventure. Keep your eyes peeled for updates!

3. Read at least 12 books.
This may sound like a simple task, but reading for leisure is something I've really been missing lately. Twelve books will put me at one book a month, which sounds easy, but will likely be a challenge during the busy months.

4. Quit Soda and Artificial Sweetener.
Yeah, okay. I've tried this many times. Diet Pepsi is my true vice on this earth, but it's really no good for my health or my teeth or anything! Plus, drinking water has so many benefits! If it gets really bad, I'll limit myself to one pop a week, but I'd rather quit cold turkey. It's been 3 days so far, and I feel pretty good!

5. Save at least $1000.
Though I'd like to save more, I'd like to save a bumper fund of at least one grand this year, just for a rainy day. I think it's a good idea, and I doubt anyone would disagree with that!

6. Collaborate with at least 10 bloggers this year.
I definitely want to reach out this year and collaborate with more of my blogging friends! If you'd like to collab, hit me up on twitter (@jssbckly) or email (writinginredlipstick@gmail.com)!

7. Visit NYC again!
There's so much of New York I want to experience, of course I'll take all of you along with me!

8. Find a daily routine that really works for me.
This one is slightly vague, but I imagine it will take some practice. I've already worked out a blog schedule for this year so I think that will help balance my blog life and real life more easily. I also need to start eating breakfast every day, but that's another story.

  3. I'm right there with you saving $1000. I hope I can save more and nothing as always comes up. I REALLY wanna finish school but I feel like its lagging so much. So so much. One day, it will come. Lol.

  4. Great goals! I have been trying to give up soda too (Diet Coke is my weakness). I am down to about 1 a week, I think indulging a little isn't too bad. I grew up in NY (just north of the city) and I am always looking for an excuse to go back ;) Good luck on your goals, I know you can do it!!

  5. I have been trying to cut back on the diet sodas as well. I try not to drink them more than once a week, but they start looking real good when I need an afternoon caffeine fix.. I would love to visit NYC, I will hopefully go in December if everything works out. That's exciting that your graduation is just around the corner! Good luck with all your goals this year!

  6. Great goals! Visiting NY is something I've always wanted to do but I know I won't get there for a good few years. Hopefully once I've completely finished with my education then I can go there.
