Blackberry Mint Julep // Cocktail Recipe

March 16, 2016

Last night I made these super pretty - and delicious - blackberry mint juleps! Since I didn't have any crushed ice, I decided that I needed to make my juleps pop more than the standard minty libation and add a splash of fruit. Since blackberries are tasty and such a pretty color, I decided to use them in this drink. They did not disappoint!

If you'd like to make your own blackberry mint juleps - the recipe is below!

You will need:
  • 2oz Bourbon
  • 1oz simple syrup (recipe here)
  • 1 package blackberries
  • fresh mint
  • club soda
  • ice (crushed is best)
First, in a shaker full of ice, muddle (smash) a handful of blackberries. Add some mint leaves and continue to muddle.

Add your bourbon and simple syrup. Give it a good shake.

Fill a glass with ice and toss in a few blackberries. Pour in the contents of your mixer.

Add a splash of club soda (I recommend going light on this as it can easily overpower the subtle flavors of the drink) and garnish with fresh mint.

Admire and enjoy!

I'd love to know what you think of this drink. Be sure to send me photos on twitter and instagram if you choose to make it! I'm @jssbckly on both!
