This weekend I had a little time to relax after a really hectic week. My summer semester started earlier this month, and it's been go time ever since. I always say that when life starts happening, it happens all at once. Thankfully, I got a little time off from all of that to spend some of my weekend at home with family.
I also took the chance to start reading Into The Wild, which is one of my favorite movies ever, but I dare to say the book may be even better. Along with that, I started burning a lovely candle* from Hearth & Hammer. Their candles smell absolutely fantastic, come in the prettiest packaging, and a lot of them are inspired by famous literary works like Wuthering Heights and The Scarlet Letter. The one I picked was inspired by The Great Gatsby, and has hints of ocean air, musk, and earthy vanilla. Perfect for relaxing with a book, especially one that takes you deep into the great outdoors. Be sure to check out Hearth & Hammer on Etsy and on Instagram for sneak peeks into the candle making process, and other gorgeous photos featuring their work!
Other highlights of the weekend included catching the sunset over the Blue Ridge Mountains, finding a complete set of my grandmother's pattern of silverware for a great deal at an antique market - such an awesome find - as now I get my own set, I feel like a real grown up!
After that, I made sure to take a walk down to the creek with Page, our pup, who was celebrating her 2nd birthday (which just so happens to be my dad's birthday too! She got a doggy ice cream cone, and he got a chips ahoy ice cream cake.) Since it rained pretty much all last week it was great to spend some time outside, and to see that all the flowers were blooming. It will be summer before we know it.
How was your weekend?
